May 16, 2019 @ 6:00 pm

SJRK Jacksonville Office | Jacksonville University, 2800 University Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211 (Marine Science Research Institute Bldg.)

We’re already getting several reports of algal blooms across the Lower Basin of the St. Johns River from Palatka to Jacksonville. Read WJCT’s recent news story covering the issue.

Now’s the time to take action and help us raise awareness to get the GREEN out! Join St. Johns Riverkeeper staff to learn what causes these blue-green algal blooms and why they’re harmful to you and our River. We’ll also teach you ways to help us reduce algal blooms by living a more River Friendly lifestyle.

You’ll also learn …
– What happened on nutrient pollution bills in the 2019 Legislative Session.
– How to report algal blooms when you see them.
– Upcoming algal bloom outreach events, summer volunteer opportunities, and more!

Help us get the GREEN out of our River – don’t miss this informative talk! Light snacks and drinks provided.

Directions when arriving on campus
Turn into the main entrance of JU at Merrill Road. Follow Dolphin Drive towards the river. You will go down a big hill past a big parking lot and then turn right on River Road. Take your first left across from the baseball complex. The Marine Science Research Institute will be straight ahead. We are on the second floor at the top of the stairs. Parking available in the grass area next to the road. Campus map. The MSRI building is #13 on the map.
