St. Johns Riverkeeper and the Riverside Arts Market (RAM) are hosting the third annual River Ruckus, a family festival celebrating two of our region’s most important assets—the St. Johns River and RAM. The day’s events include: a flotilla of watercraft with the BIG FLOAT and swimmers with JumpingFish on the river, a celebrity jump into the St. Johns River, an “Inshore Fishing 101” clinic and crafts, dragonboat races, standup paddleboard (SUP) lessons, marine science education boat trips, live local music, craft beer from SweetWater Brewing Company, plus all the unique art, produce and food vendors that the Riverside Arts Market offers every Saturday.

9-10 a.m. Standup Paddleboard (SUP) yoga, offered by All Wet Sports
10 a.m.–4 p.m. Free boat tours from Freedom Boat Club
10 a.m.–4 p.m. SUP lessons, offered by All Wet Sports
10 a.m.–4 p.m. Watergun Fun (held at RAM’s Hill Top Stage)
11 a.m. Dragonboat Race on the River: First Heat
11 a.m.– 1 p.m. Educational boat tours led by Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute scientists
11:30 p.m. Arrival of Up the River Downtown 2015 open water swimmers, led by Jumping Fish, and kayak flotilla, led by Black Creek Outfitters in connection with the SweetWater Brewing Company BIG FLOAT! 1-2 p.m. Celebrity River Jump including: City Councilman Jim Love, Curtis Dvorak and local media personalities
2-3 p.m. “Inshore Kayak Fishing 101,” taught by Rory Gregg with Chicopit Bay (held at RAM’s Roundhouse Stage)
3 p.m. Dragonboat Race on the River: Second Heat
3:30 p.m. Raffle drawing for custom 9.5-foot Perception Tribe kayak donated by SweetWater Brewing Company (Riverfront Stage)
Organizations and event sponsors including St. Johns Riverkeeper will have information booths on the northeast end of the market, near the terminus of the Northbank Riverwalk. Visitors can also sign up to participate in the various activities, such as boat rides and SUP lessons, at these booths, including information about the donated by Jacksonville Dragonboat Festival. The vendors, including Fish and Wildlife, the St. Johns River Alliance and the Marine Science Research Institute will all have information about the health and science of our river and how we can work together to protect it.
