Paddling Pilgrimage at Blue Springs
October 29 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Join the Florida Right to Clean Water, Rights Of Water, and our Middle Basin Coordinator for a Paddling Pilgrimage at Blue Springs! This paddle will be from W French Ave. Landing to the Blue Springs State Park spring run, then we’ll paddle up the run to the head spring (source) and slowly float back down. On the way back down we will gather at the confluence of Blue Springs and the St. Johns River to do a discussion and spiritual blessing of the Waters, thankfully honoring the life-giving Creation of Clean Water.
This is a multi-faith event and anyone’s belief system will be welcome. You are invited to read a poem or a phrase which connects you to the earth and waters. We will then paddle back to the Landing via the oxbow tributary across from the launch. The whole paddle will be only 2 miles, unless you want to continue down the river, and will last approximately 2 hours.
What to Bring
- Drinking water
- PFD, whistle, and any other necessities for safe paddling
We will be meeting at the W French Ave. Launch in Orange City, FL, at the end of the dirt road by Blue Springs State Park.
